DAVAO CITY – Around P2.4 million worth of illegal drugs was seized by security forces from a construction worker, who tried to escape at a boarder checkpoint being maintained by Task Force Davao (TFD) in Barangay Sirawan, Toril on Monday afternoon.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the suspect as Ronnie S. Martinez, 25, resident of Paraiso, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

Police report bared that TFD personnel and Toril Police Station flagged down the suspect, who was in his car for inspection around 2 p.m. of October 12. 

However, Martinez threw a black sling bag out of the car window, and when the police checked its contents, they saw two sachets of suspected shabu. Further inspection of the bag revealed another sachet containing shabu.

The suspect tried to evade the arrest, but authorities were able to chase him down in Barangay Marapangi, Toril. 

Authorities seized a total of 151 grams of illegal with an estimated market value of P2.4 million. 

Martinez was reportedly included in the Directorate of Intelligence (DI) watch list. He is now detained at Toril Police Station while a case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against him was being readied for filing against him on Tuesday..
