State-of-the-art facilities and equipment have been installed at the sports complex in New Clark City (NCC) in time for the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Commissioned by SEA Games lead developer MTD Philippines, E-Sports International has delivered the competition track certified by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) and athletic performance gyms used for Olympic training.
The Philippine athletics team has been training in the NCC Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac, since August 31 and has praised the work done in the sports complex.
“So far, our athletes and coaches are very happy with the facilities. That’s the true testament of the quality of the product,” said MTD president Nikko David via Skype during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum on Tuesday at the Amelie Hotel in Manila.
“It is very inspiring to hear that the facilities we installed are making a favorable impact to our athletes,” said E-Sports managing director Audris Romualdez.
The 14,000-meter oval track was awarded with a Class 1 Certification by the IAAF, making the possible records achieved in the biennial meet eligible.
Gyms in the athletics and aquatics stadiums as well as inside the Athletics Village were equipped with the tools provided by Technogym, a brand preferred by major global sporting events including the Olympics.
“We worked diligently to provide tracks and gym facilities that meet the highest quality standards and can match the Olympic venues worldwide,” said Romualdez.
In addition, David donated 99 gates of SmarTracks for the warm-up area. SmartTracks is a performance diagnostic system that also enables documentation of training activities.
“We’ve been demanding so much from our athletes. As our way of giving back, we donated this technology that can help them improve their performance,” said David.
