Mayor Francis Zamora

“As of today, our case doubling time here in San Juan is now 9.5 days,” Zamora said on May 25, Monday.

“Ibig sabihin niyan it takes 9.5 days bago domuble ang kaso (This means that it takes 9.5 days before the cases double),” he added.

The mayor of the smallest city in Metro Manila noted that the figure serves as a “good sign” as they continue their fight against the dreaded disease.

“These are statistics and data which show that indeed San Juan is slowly flattening the curve,” Zamora stressed.

Based on the latest data from the local government, there were 302 confirmed cases in San Juan City with 40 deaths and 138 recoveries as of May 23.

Most of the city’s COVID-19 cases are concentrated in Barangay Greenhills with 57 cases, and neighboring Barangay West Crame with 33 cases.

Despite this development, Zamora said now is not the time to be complacent as the threat of COVID-19 remains.

“Hindi ito dahilan para maging kompyansa tayo ngunit ito’y malaking bagay sa atin sapagkat nakikita natin yung ating sakripisyo at pinaghirapan ng halos tatlong buwan ay nagbubunga na ng positibo para sa atin (This is not a reason for us to be confident but it is a big deal to us, because we can now see that our sacrifice and hardships for almost three months is now producing positive results for us),” he said.
