Around 750 families living in Valenzuela City’s danger zones will be soon moved to their new homes after the local government inaugurated Thursday the first phase of its third housing project called the Disiplina Village.
Mayor Rex Gatchalian said that a total of five buildings have already been constructed at the city’s third Disiplina Village, located in Barangay Lingunan, to house informal settlers living near the transmission lines.
May sariling unit, mas ligtas, may kuryente, tubig, at may dignidad ang pamumuhay (This is one of our biggest programs in partnership with the NGCP to relocate our constituents living in the danger zones. A total of 750 families living under the transmission lines will be relocated once the DVLingunan is compeleted next year. They will have their own units that are safer and have electric and water connections as well as give them the dignity to live),” Gatchalian said in a social media post.
The local chief executive said that the new Disiplina Village is situated near four schools that are “accessible for the relocated families.”
The local government made various considerations so the relocation site would become favorable to those who will be relocated),” he said.
You are already homeowners. It’s a life with dignity that awaits those who will be relocated to Disiplina Village Lingunan),” Gatchalian added.
The city previously had two Disiplina Villages in Barangay Ugong and Bignay.
When he ran for his third term as a mayor, Gatchalian said, he would be committed to giving all residents who are living by the rivers and near transmission lines a better housing condition should he win.
