Press freedom and human rights advocates have launched an app that informs citizens about their basic rights and what to do if they are getting arrested, detained, or searched by the state security forces.
The Know Your Rights app is an offline mobile version of the Know Your Rights primer developed by the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) and translated to Filipino by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ).
The app was developed by the Foundation for Media Alternatives (FAM) as an effort to make the primer more accessible to mobile users.
FLAG Chairman Chel Diokno encouraged the public to support the app.
“Sana makatulong ito sa mga kababayan natin (I hope this helps our countrymen). Hope you can support so we can encourage more innovations in defending our rights,” Diokno wrote.
Users can download the app for free on Google Play Store or App Store.
