SCIENTIA (Security Connectivity and Inclusive EducatioN Through Internet Access) is the initiative of QCSHS alumni community securing the resources needed for QCSHS students to continue uninterrupted learning during the online learning setup.

The project aims to provide indigent students pocket Wi-Fi for the duration of the school year, secure funds or sponsorship for data plans for students, and mobilize resources for other schools such as printers, ink, and other office supplies.

According to the Alumni Association (AA), over 300 QCSHS students said they have limited or no Internet access and may not have the capacity to secure a connection on or before opening of classes on October 5.

“It began with the members of the AA Board of Directors asking the teacher-alumni how classes will be done this year. We started discussing how we can help, and we thought pocket Wi-Fis would be the best aid we can give,” AA Internal Vice President Florinio Lazo said in a news release.

Student beneficiaries will be selected based on their actual financial need, pocket WI-FI devices will be issued with a memorandum of receipt and are expected to be returned at the end of the school year.

A sponsorship for pre-paid subscription data plans for the entire school year will also be provided depending on their families financial capability.

Meanwhile, a group or individuals may opt for an “adopt-a-student” scheme where the benefactors commit to cover the needs of one or more students for the whole school year. The cost of full sponsorship is P500 per month.

SCIENTIA will be managed by the school administration, all equipment and supplies acquired or donated under the program will be turned over to QCSHS.
