Nine Automated Payment Machines (APM) have been installed in different Quezon City barangays to allow residents and business owners to pay their taxes without going to city hall.

The city government on Monday said they sought a collaboration with a private company in launching the APMs as limited face-to-face transactions are highly encouraged amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.

The project aims to provide local government units and their constituencies a safer and more convenient payment alternative and “is a big help…especially during the new normal,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Interested residents will also be provided with debit cards for free, which they can use to make online payments, purchases and withdraw money, among others, the local government added.

Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) head Margarita Santos said the city is planning to include APMs as one of the venues for tax payments and other fees intended for the  city in the long run.

“We will also tap [them] to help in cashless transactions for upcoming programs,” Santos said.
