MANKAYAN, Benguet: The tourism potential of the mineral-rich town got a big boost, following the recent visit of paragliding experts in the country to assess the possibility of the conduct of various paragliding activities in the future.
Mayor Frenzel Ayong said Aristotle Mendoza, chairman of Northside Paragliding Philippines based in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, and his wife initially assessed the prevailing situation in the proposed paragliding sites in the municipality and were impressed by what they had seen.
He added that the Mendoza couple also shared their insights on possible tourism-related activities that could be conducted in the municipality that would surely help enhance the town’s tourism potential and contribute to efforts in reviving the local economy.
“We have to work with possible partnerships to speed up recovery efforts from the prevailing health pandemic. We have to be bullish in maximizing the tourism potentials of the municipality. That is why we continue to partner with industry experts for them to share their insights on where to start and move forward,” Ayong said.
He said the municipality could work with the private sector and put up sufficient accommodation facilities for future visitors. The infusion of tourism in the town’s existing mining and agriculture sectors is seen spurring the economy, heavily affected by the coronavirus.
