If Catriona Gray would have her way, she would like the 2020 Miss Universe beauty pageant be postponed this year to ensure the safety of the girls.

But the 2018 Miss Universe from the Philippines said that it would still be up to the Miss Universe Organization to decide on the matter.

“Honestly it’s up to the organizers. If it can be done in a safe way, you know a lot of franchises are holding their pageants online but also a large aspect of what makes a pageant a pageant is the support of the people and I think it’s gonna be different if you take out that aspect so I don’t see anything wrong with pushing it back just to ensure the safety protocols are the top priority. and it cannot be a single one representing their provinces and their countries in mediums through social media which is accessible to us all his time,” said Catriona during an exclusive online interview for her new show on TV5 called “Sunday Noontime Live” on TV5.

So far, organizers of the most prestigious beauty pageant have not released any statement if they will push through with this year’s competition or not.

Other popular pageants such as Miss World and Miss International have pushed back their contests to 2021 due to the health crisis. Only the Miss Earth 2020 pageant will hold its contest online.

Directed by Johnny Manahan, the Sunday noontime musical variety show will also be hosted by Piolo Pascual, together with Maja Salvador, Donny Pangilinan, and Jake Ejercito.

“Sunday Noontime Live” is set to premiere on October 18 from 12 noon-2 p.m. You can also enjoy its same day catch-up airing at 8 p.m. on Colours Channel 202 HD and Channel 60 SD on Cignal TV.

Catriona also said that she has postponed writing her first book due to the series of unfortunate events around.

“I’v postponed the release because ang daming pinagdaan this year for all of us I think. And there were lots of things I needed to overcome. And a lot of things that I learned. So gusto kong ilagay yan sa book ko. So keep an eye for it. So baka next year,” the Filipino-Australian beauty queen said.
