An athletic student who won first runner-up in the recent Mister Grand Philippines 2019 will now represent the Philippines in Mister Icon World 2019 contest which will be held in India from Nov. 21-26.
Mister Grand Philippines 2019 first runner-up Martin Domingo Sardiña is scheduled to leave today, Nov. 20, via Cathay Pacific Airlines for the international competition.
This after the original winner athlete Michael Ver Comaling decided to represent the country in the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Manila from Nov. 30-Dec.11.
Meg Perez, national director of Mister Grand Philippines contest, said Comaling will compete in the 2020 edition of Mister Icon World.
Sardiña, 21, is a 4th-year student at Kolehiyo ng Subic in Zambales taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Operations Management.
“I’m an athletic person and I engage through different sports like basketball taekwondo, and soccer,” he said.
Asked about his initial reaction when told he would compete in India, Sardiña said: “When I heard that I will be the one who will compete for the crown of Mister Icon World, I felt excited for the opportunity to embody an icon for people of today and the youth.”
Comaling is a Filipino pentathlete in the coming SEA Games, meaning an athlete who will participate in five sports competitions.
