Vince Lenard Marcelo and Ella Eiveren Lubag are Philippine representatives to the first Global Asian Model World Finals at the Cove at Okada Manila tonight.
The organizers of the contest are looking for models who are “more than just pretty faces— models who can help move major brands and represent them well, models who can inspire others and use social media as a tool for spreading positivity and use their influence for the greater good” as stated on their website.
Vince and Ella will be competing with 36 male and female models from other countries.
At a welcome party held recently, Jonas Gaffud of Empire Studios said the models will get the chance to win cash prizes and guaranteed modeling placements in Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, Los Angeles, and New York.
The Global Asian Model was founded particularly to highlight the Asian heritage.
“With diverse languages and different cultures- from the old world of the Middle East, to the rich civilization of the subcontinent of India, to the empires of China, Mongolia, Japan and Korea, to the emerging region of Southeast Asia- this is the largest and most diverse continent in the world!” the text read.
“Asia has become the forefront of fashion where a lot of today’s seasoned models have Asian lineage, Eurasians, Pan-Asians, North and South American Asians; truly, Asia has conquered the world,” Jonas added.
Since 2004, Jonas has been discovering young and fresh talents. He founded Mercator Modeling Management and Aces and Queens camp. The latter produced the Philippines’ first Miss World titleholder in Megan Young. The team is also behind the victories of Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
