Thousands of households in Batangas experienced power outages as Typhoon “Quinta” battered the province Monday.
Batangas governor Hermilando Mandanas said half of the province’s power was cut off due to the effects of Typhoon “Quinta.”
“Talagang malakas ang hangin lalo na sa Timog bahagi ng lalawigan ng Batangas. Ngayon walang kuryente ang Batangas, Tanuan at Lipa at sa mga munisipyo namin. So halos kalahati ng Batangas ay walang kuryente,” Mandanas said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo, adding several roads in the province were also closed.
The governor said the province also continued to experience strong winds and rain as “Quinta” headed towards the West Philippine Sea.
Work in all government offices in the entire province, except those involved in disaster risk reduction and management and public health and safety, were also suspended.
Batangas was still placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS No. 2) as of 11 a.m. Monday.
