MARILAO, Bulacan – Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go visited the towns of Marilao and Calumpit  Tuesday (Nov 17) to distribute food packs and extend assistance to families affected by the recent typhoons.

“Huwag kayong magpasalamat sa akin. Ako ang dapat magpasalamat sa inyo dahil binigyan nyo ako ng pagkakataon na maserbisyuhan kayo (Do not thank me. I should be the one to thank you for giving me the chance serve you),” Go said in a speech. 

The senator also said President Duterte wants to make sure that every Filipino is safe.

“Sabi nga ni Pangulong Duterte, patuloy kaming magse-serbisyo sa inyo. Kasi para sa amin ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo sa Diyos (As President Duterte said we will continue to serve you because for us serving the people is serving God),” he added. 

A total of 356 packs of grocery items were distributed to the typhoon-affected residents here while 250 packs of grocery items were distributed to Calumpit residents.

The senator also brought 20 bicycles, 20 tablet computers, shoes, face masks, face shields, and vitamins. 

Go said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will give P3,000 each to residents whose houses were damaged by the typhoon.

“Kasama ko rin ang mga representatives from National Housing Authority (NHA) para magbigay ng mga housing materials para sa mga nasira na bahay (Representatives from the National Housing Authority are also here to provide housing materials for those whose houses were damaged),” he said.

The Department of Agriculture will distribute 25 million bangus fry, 100 sacks of rice, and 5,000 cans of sardines, he added.

“The Department of Trade and Industry, on the other hand, will conduct interviews to those who are willing to have ‘sari-sari’ store or Pangkabuhayan package,” Go said.

The senator was warmly welcomed by Governor Daniel Fernando, Vice Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, Marilao Mayor Ricky Silvestre and Vice Mayor Henry Lutao, and other local leaders and officials from the different national government agencies.

Fernando thanked Go and President Duterte for their support and help to Bulakenyos.
