Rev. Fr. Renato de la Rosa, social action director of the Diocese ng Virac in Catanduanes has appealed to residents in the diocese to welcome evacuees who will be affected by typhoon “Ulysees” into their homes.
The diocese said they lack evacuation centers in the province with most still being occupied by residents displaced by super typhoon “Rolly.” The local government, the diocese said, is in the process of conducting preventive evacuation and preparing for relief for calamity victims.
“We are in dire need of evacuation centers. That is why, just like what we did during the onslaught of super typhoon ‘Rolly,’ we are appealing to kind-hearted residents to please welcome families, who will be affected by the typhoon into your homes,” De la Rosa said over Radio Veritas.
“This is an opportune time to help each other,” the priest added as he urged the faithful to pray for the safety of the residents of the diocese.
De la Rosa also appealed for assistance for all the victims of typhoons “Quinta” and “Rolly.”
