The mayors of Marikina and Caramoan, Camarines Sur thanked the Muntinlupa City government for giving financial donations to help those affected by typhoons “Ulysses,” “Quinta,” and “Rolly.”

The city government of Muntinlupa announced earlier that it will give a total of P11 million in financial donations to 21 local government units (LGUs) in the provinces of Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro and Cagayan, and Marikina City in the National Capital Region (NCR).

On November 18, Erwin Alfonso, chief of the Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management (MCDDRM) and Muntinlupa Councilor Paty Katy Boncayao turned over a check amounting to P1 million to Marikina Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro. Alfonso said Teodoro thanked Muntinlupa and Mayor Jaime Fresnedi for the donation. 

Municipalities which will be given P500,000 each by the Muntinlupa City government are Bato, San Andres, San Miguel, Baras, and Gigmoto in Catanduanes; Bato, Iriga, Calagbanga, Caramoan, Garchitorena, and Siruma in Camarines Sur; Tiwi, Ligao City, Camalig, and Malinao in Albay; Naujan and Gloria in Oriental Mindoro; Tingloy in Batangas; and Alcala and Claveria in Cagayan.

The Muntinlupa City Council earlier approved the proposed financial aid that will be sourced from the city government’s 2020 Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund as per recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and MCDDRM.

Ahead of the donation, Caramoan, Camarines Sur Mayor Marilyn Socorro Co wrote a letter to Fresnedi to thank him. 

“We wish to express our gratitude for the Financial Assistance for Caramoan in view of the damages we suffered from Super Typhoon Rolly in the amount of Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php500,000) from Muntinlupa City through your good office,” Co told Fresnedi. 

She added that “the amount would be of great help to my constituents to recover faster and stronger than ever.” 

As of this writing, Alfonso and his team are now in Oriental Mindoro to give the P500,000 donation each to the towns of Naujan and Gloria.
