Three quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients were recently completed in Pasay City, the Department of Public Works and Highways said Saturday.
The three isolation facilities are the WMall Quarantine Facility, Folk Arts Theater, and Pasay City Sports Complex Quarantine Facility.
The WMall Quarantine Facility has a 160-bed capacity, the Folk Arts Theater has 20 unit rooms, while the Pasay City Sports Complex has 62 cubicles, one nurse station, one working area, and an X-ray room.
According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, the makeshift hospitals are based on the design standard prepared by the department’s Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Health Facilities.
“To provide comfort to the patients, all rooms are fully-air conditioned with private comfort rooms,” Villar, who also serves as the isolation czar, said.
“These facilities in Pasay were constructed for mild to asymptomatic COVID-19 patients who have to be isolated outside their homes to prevent further spread of the virus,” the DPWH Secretary added.
By the third week of November, the DPWH South Manila District Engineering Office also aims to finish the ongoing conversion of container vans into a 72-bed capacity quarantine facility inside Villamor Airbase in Pasay, Villar said.
