Barring any controversy that Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas got entangled with in the past, he is a good choice for the top Philippine National Police (PNP) post, Senator Panfilo M. Lacson said today.
Lacson, a former PNP chief, said he has known Sinas as a ‘’performer, always mission-oriented and undoubtedly will lead the police institution the way it should be led.’’
‘’That said, the birthday mañanita event was a hard lesson that I hope he has learned from, and which he will surely remember whenever he will be confronted in making decisions affecting the PNP as well as his personal reputation,’’ he added.
Sinas is still not off the hook over the mananita controversy.
He and 18 other police officers are facing criminal charges for allegedly violating quarantine protocols during the celebration of the new PNP chief’s 55th birthday last May.
He had apologized over the fiasco but insisted that he and other police officers followed health protocols during the mañanita, the traditional dawn serenade for a senior PNP official.
