2 p.m. – BanKo Perlas vs Pacifictown Army
4 p.m. – PetroGazz vs Creamline
PetroGazz breathed life into its title campaign on Saturday by besting defending champion Creamline, 15-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-12, in Game 2 of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference finals at The Arena in San Juan City.
Cuban import Wilma Salas, earlier adjudged the Best Foreign Guest Player of the Conference, and American Janisa Johnson joined forces by hammering down 23 points apiece as the Angels evened their best-of-three series to 1-all and forged a winner-take-all match today at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Salas and Johnson were unstoppable at the net by combining for 41 of the team’s 53 attacks, overshadowing the efforts of Conference Most Valuable Player Alyssa Valdez for Creamline.
Valdez, who copped her third MVP trophy, scored 17 points but the Cool Smashers couldn’t stop the hot hands of Salas and Johnson the way they did in Wednesday’s Game 1 where they prevailed, 24-26, 25-16, 25-16, 25-22.
Djanel Cheng also spelled the difference for PetroGazz by distributing the ball well with 33 excellent sets.
Earlier, Pacifictown Army also forced a deciding Game 3 in their battle-for-third series by downing BanKo-Perlas, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-23.
Royse Tubino starred for the Lady Troopers with a game-high 23 points built on 20 attacks and three aces, while Olena Lymareva-Flink and Jenelle Jordan fired 21 and 17 points.
Veteran Jovelyn Gonzaga also anchored Pacifictown Army on all fronts with six points apart from 15 digs and 13 receptions.
BanKo-Perlas won Game 1, 25-27, 10-25, 27-25, 26-24, 16-14, but failed to sustain that momentum.
