Barangay Ginebra suffered another loss in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, falling to TNT KaTropa recently. Aside from the fourth quarter collapse by the Gin Kings, things got chippy between LA Tenorio and import Terrence Jones at one point.
At the 7:36 mark in the fourth period, Jones was slapped with a flagrant 1 foul on Tenorio as he was seen hitting the veteran guard as he was about to drive from the baseline.
More so, Jones pointed out that Tenorio was the one who started it all.
“I just wanted to be aggressive. He kinda punched me in the stomach beforehand and they didn’t call it,” Jones said.
“I just want to let my guys know that they are not going to try to do anything dirty. We just continue winning. We kept playing and it didn’t bother none of us. We are just worried about getting this win,” he added.
Jones went home with the victory and had a triple-double 17 points, ten in the fourth period, with 16 dimes and 14 boards.
On Tenorio’s side, he hopes that the league will review the tapes to prove that he didn’t start a thing with Jones.
“I hope I-review nila ‘yung tape na ‘yun,” said Tenorio. “I’m going to admit doon sa ginawa ko pero sana man lang tingnan nila kung anong nangyari, kasi di ko naman gagawin yun kung di niya ginawa sa akin eh, ganda na ng laro eh.”
Instead, Tenorio also accused Jones of hitting him in one possession in the third quarter.
“Nagulat lang ako kasi one time, pababa na ako sa transition then parang sinikmurahan niya ako. I told some of his teammates kung anong ginawa niya sa akin. Kung anong ma-review ng PBA, I’m willing to say my piece also. Kung ano man ang makita nila, ok, pero tingnan nila din ‘yung kabila.”
Tenorio finished the game with 18 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
