San Miguel Beer gained a crucial step in hopes of finally shaking off the championship hangover after zooming past Alaska, 119-107, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Alex Cabagnot scored a season-high 31 points, while import Charles Rhodes and Marcio Lassiter produced 23 points apiece as the Beermen moved to a three-way share of seventh place with Rain or Shine and Phoenix Pulse at 2-3.

The Beermen are hoping that the win will enable them to get their old form back after an alarming start that came more than a month since winning a fifth straight Philippine Cup title.

Chris Daniels returned from an injured quad and posted 23 points and 22 rebounds but Alaska loss its second straight to fall 4-4 in the eliminations.
