FILIPINO cue artist Dennis Orcollo known for his monicker as “Robocop” started the Year of the Metal Ox on a high note as he stamped class in two tournaments held in Texas, United States.

The winner of the 2020 Derby City Classic Nine-Ball Banks continued his high-caliber play, this time in the 1st Michael Montgomery Memorial One Pocket Division and the Michael Montgomery Memorial 10-Ball Mini both at the Snookered Billiards, Frisco Texas, USA from January 27 to 31.

Orcollo cruised past to victory as he went undefeated, outlasting Corey Deuel twice—in the hot seat and final—to claim the Michael Montgomery Memorial One Pocket title that goes with a cool $7,380.00 payout or about P369,000.

After taking a bye in the first round, the many-time Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist Orcollo defeated Roberto Gomez, 4-1, to advance to the winners’ side semifinal match against BillyThorpe, who defeated Van Boening, 4-3.

Orcollo pulled off a convincing 4-2 victory over Thorpe, while Deuel outlasted Sky Woodward in a double hill match to setup a hot seat match against the Filipino pool star.

Deuel was outmatched by Orcollo in the hot seat match, and had to beat Tony Chohan in the double hill match to earn another shot at Orcollo for the final match..

Orcollo defeated Deuel anew, 4-3, to finish the tourney unscatched.

US pool players Deuel, Chochan and Thorpe all finished behind Orcollo at second to fourth places, respectively.

Orcollo also won the 10-Ball Mini that had a payout of $7,040, Shane Van Boening finished second, Filipino Jeffrey De Luna nabbed third place and Jalal Al Saresi of Jordan rounded up the Top 4.
