Caloocan put an end to Bacoor’s bid for a perfect run in the Metro League Reinforced Conference with a 78-73 win in Game 2 of the finals at the Caloocan Sports Complex on Friday night.
The Supremos stifled the Strike in the first quarter, limiting them to just seven points, before they opened a lead as high as 18 points in the third period.
Bacoor mounted a comeback attempt that saw its deficit cut down to only four, 71-75, with only 24 seconds left.
The team even got a chance to trim the gap further as Miguel Malabag stole the ball from Abdoulaye Niang and eventually found King Descamento at the attack zone, but Descamento missed a teardrop and Johnnel Bauzon scored on a floater of his own at the other end for the dagger.
Robbi Darang made 19 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and one steal for Caloocan, which forced a deciding Game 3 in the championship round.
Bauzon added 18 points, seven rebounds, one steal, and one block.
RJ Ramirez dropped 22 markers, four boards, three dimes, and one steal for Bacoor, which suffered its first loss of the conference after winning its first 12 games overall dating back to the eliminations.
Descamento chipped in 15 points and 10 caroms for a double-double with three assists and one block.
