After being included in the FIBA World Cup pool of Gilas Pilipinas by national team coach Yeng Guiao, Jordan Clarson revealed that he was staying ready for Gilas.
Despite the uncertainty of his eligibility, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard said he was being patient.
“I am just staying ready, waiting for the opportunity. It will happen. If not, then I’ll just suit up another time.” Clarkson shared in an interview with ABS-CBN.
For Guiao, Clarkson’s inclusion can improve the team’s chances.
“Our chances will increase. [He is] going to change the complexion of the team.” he said, keeping his hopes up.
Clarkson played for the country last year in the Asian Games.
But his status to play for the World Cup with Gilas remains in doubt as FIBA has yet to decide on his eligibility.
Gilas is set to start their daily practice on Monday before they fly to Madrid, Spain on August 4 to see action in a pocket before proceeding to the FIBA World Cup in China where it will have Italy as its first opponent on August 31.
