Quinley Quesada scored the opener before Alisha Del Campo produced a hat trick as the national booters finished their group stage campaign with nine points, good for second behind host Thailand in Group A and a slot in the semis.

Coach Let Dimson’s squad will face Group B winner Vietnam in the semifinals on Sunday for a spot in the Final against either host Thailand or Myanmar.

“Going into the semifinals, we need to prepare more because we’re playing Vietnam which is more stronger and faster,” said Dimson.

Vietnam won all three matches against Cambodia, Indonesia and Myanmar without conceding a goal.

Two goals from Camille Rodriguez and another by Hali Long gave the Philippines its first win last Aug. 15 with a 3-0 romp of Malaysia.

Rodriguez also struck twice while Quesada, Sara Castaneda, Long and Charisa Lemoran also found the back of the net in the 7-0 drubbing of Timor-Leste.

The Philippines nearly scored the upset over Thailand, leading 2-1 on two Quesada goals. But the Thais responded with three goals in the final 16 minutes to eke out a 4-2 victory.
