Palarong Pambansa multi-gold medallist Marc Bryan Dula led the list of Most Outstanding Swimmer (MOS) awardees in the 163rd Philippine Swimming League (PSL) – LC5 Invitational Championship held in General Santos City.
Dula, a Masville National High School-Paranaque student, collected 45 points to claim the top honors in the boys’ 11-12 division.
He collected gold medals in the 200m Individual Medley, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly to complete a sweet sweep of all of his five events.
Sharing the spotlight were fellow MOS winners from Davao namely Suncel Macapobre (girls’ 6-under) and Kate Ytang (girls’ 7-8) and Sayap Pirates bets Ethan Ambrose (boys’ 6-under) and Christopher John Larioza (boys’ 7-8).
Also earning MOS awards were Xyriel Lexine Chiong (girls’ 9-10), Renz Bryan Flauta (boys’ 9-10), Lara Clere Delicana (girls’ 11-12), Jie Angela Talosig (girls’ 13-14), Clint Steven Aroma (boys’ 13-14), Nicole Rojo (girls’ 15-over) and John Alexander Talosig (boys’ 15-over).
“It’s just the continuation of what (former Philippine Swimming League president) coach Susan Papa’s program which is to discover fresh talents from different parts of the country. We would like to thank coach Bob Palacios for hosting this event and we’re looking forward to be back in GenSan,” said PSL president Alexandre Papa.
Up next for the association is the 164th PSL National Series – 1st Susan Papa Unity Cup scheduled on August 18 at the Diliman Preparatory School swimming pool in Quezon City.
The one-day event will be staged in memory of the late former PSL president Susan Papa. It aims to discover fresh talents from different parts of the country for future international competitions.
Almost 500 tankers have already confirmed participation in the Susan Papa Unity Cup.
“We are just following what coach Susan is doing. And we are happy to announce that a lot of swimmers have already signed up,” added Papa.
