A day after the protest rally at City Hall, several vendors and residents of Divisoria joined the cleaning and clearing operations along Ylaya and M. De Santos Streets in Manila.
A group of Divisoria vendors held a rally at Manila City Hall last Monday to protest Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s move prohibiting vendors from setting up their stalls and selling merchandise along Ylaya Street.
Some vendors and residents were seen splashing water and sweeping the streets of Ylaya and M. De Santos.
Mayor Moreno earlier gave an order prohibiting vendors from selling along Ylaya after the vendors left a pile of trash in the area.
As part of the city government’s cleanup, some streets, establishments, and infrastructures were under restoration and renovation, according to Moreno in an interview with GMA News.
“We’re busy paving Ylaya. We’re busy na ayusin ‘yang mga kable ng kuryente at ‘yung mga pinagsasabit nila na mas mabigat pa sa kable ng kuryente, ‘yung panghi. We’re busy to attend to our jobs,” he said.
