Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian has ordered all ongoing construction activities in the city to stop as a precautionary measure against Typhoon Rolly (International name: Goni).
All billboards should also be rolled down for safety, he ordered Friday.
“In anticipation for the incoming storm we are now instructing all billboard operators to fold up their billboards or take them down,” Gatchalian wrote on Twitter.
“All our staffers involved in disaster preparedness and relief work have also been placed in red alert,” he added.
Gatchalian said all the city’s disaster equipment will be propositioned in flood prone areas especially in Tullahan River.
“Our tree cutting crews, road clearing crews have also been placed on alert for potential road obstructions caused by the storm,” Gatchalian said.
According to the latest bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), typhoon ‘Rolly’ will possibly pass close to Metro Manila between Sunday evening and Monday morning after its expected landfall over Aurora-Quezon province Sunday.
The typhoon was monitored about 540 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, moving at 20 kilometers per hour at about 7 a.m. Saturday.
