In its Facebook page, Rizal Medical Center (RMC) said there was no confirmed case of COVID-19 nor any person under investigation for the infectious disease admitted at the health facility.

“We advise the public to refrain posting or reposting unconfirmed reports regarding COVID -19 … to avoid panic,” the RMC said in an advisory Monday.

Numerous rumors and “fake news” regarding unverified reports of patients that allegedly tested positive for COVID-19 have circulated on social media recently.

This led the country’s health officials and some Metro Manila mayors to shut down these rumors to prevent panic among the public.

Among these local chief executives was Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, who recently clarified that there was no confirmed case of the dreaded disease at Pasig City General Hospital.

The mayor made the clarification after a netizen claimed that there was a patient at the said hospital that allegedly tested positive for the disease.

Meanwhile, RMC assured the public that their health facility “is prepared to screen and manage suspected cases.”

“Please keep posted through our official Facebook page for COVID -19 (nCoV-ARD) updates and information,” it added.
