Mayors of Pasay and Paranaque vowed that they will join hands in conducting clearing operation from any obstructions causing heavy traffic along Baclaran area.
According to Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano the city government will conduct regular clearing operations along Taft Avenue going to Baclaran and FB Harrison St. to Baclaran from illegal vendors and illegal parking.
Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Danilo Lim joins Rubiano in visiting Baclaran area and immediately conducted clearing operation against illegal vendors while vehicles that were illegally parked were towed.
Rubiano said that together with Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez they agreed to find a place where they can relocate vendors so that they can continue to sell and earn a living.
Leaders of different vendors association and owners of business establishments were also called by Rubiano and were told that clearing operations in their area will be made regularly to make the place “obstruction free”.
The mayor pleads to business establishment owners not to allow illegal vendors to use the area in front of their stores.
However, Rubiano said that she will ask the City Council to pass an ordinance to allow vendors in a night market.
In Paranaque, vendors rushed to save their carts filled with goods and belongings Tuesday morning when MMDA and local government personnel conducted clearing operations in the vicinity of Baclaran church.
