The management of SM Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City yesterday denied claims circulating online that their buildings are unsound and prone to collapse after the eruption of Taal Volcano.
In a statement posted on the MOA Facebook page, they said the vast complex is built on concrete piles that reach bedrock and will withstand extreme situations.
According to the mall management, the rumor circulating online that water will cause the building to collapse is patently false and is a hoax.
“We also have rigorous annual checks to ensure the safety of the buildings, so at no time will the safety of our customers, tenants, and employees be compromised,” they said.
SM Mall of Asia, located in Macapagal, Pasay City fronting Manila Bay is one of the Philippine capital’s biggest malls, housing thousands of retail stores, restaurants, and recreation centers.
