The Makati Friendship Suites in Barangay Cembo, which has three buildings, is now ready to serve as an isolation facility for persons under investigation (PUI) or those who exhibits symptoms of the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Wednesday said.
Binay said the three buildings used to be a hotel that have been converted by the local government of Makati into separate isolation areas.
“We have converted the Makati Friendship Suites three weeks ago as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the city,” the mayor said in a statement. The five-story facility can serve about 100 patients.
Medical equipment, including X-ray machines, defibrillators, and cardiac monitors, have been set up in the isolation facility, the mayor added.
Binay said the doctors and nurses of the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) will be in charge of monitoring the patients at the COVID-19 isolation facility.
The city has also created an Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Disease team comprised of first responders from the Makati Health Department, sanitation workers from the Department of Environmental Services, and members of the Makati Police Department for patient management, disinfection, and security.
Barangay health centers have also been tasked to put up their own isolation areas.
