The Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-TEU) announced Wednesday several road closures and rerouting of vehicular traffic in various areas in the city for the celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year.

In the evening of Jan. 24, Friday, a concert will be held at Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz, which will affect traffic in the area.

The MPD-TEU said that starting 5:00 p.m. of that day, areas that will have road closures will be: Quintin Paredes from Dasmariñas to Plaza Ruiz, Reina Regente from Soler to Plaza Ruiz, Plaza Ruiz U-Turn slot, Juan Luna from Reina Regente to San Fernando, San Fernando from Elcano to Plaza Ruiz, and the northbound lane of Jones Bridge from P. Burgos to Escolta.

By 10:30 p.m., both lanes of the Jones Bridge from Escolta to Magallanes will also be closed.

The traffic unit has advised motorists coming from Juan Luna intending to utilize the southbound lane of Jones Bridge to go straight to Muelle dela Industria to MacArthur Bridge and those utilizing Soler St. going to Plaza Ruiz shall turn right to Reina Regente, then turn right or left to CM Recto to point of destination.

The unit added that, vehicles utilizing Jose Abad Santos going to Plaza Ruiz shall turn left or right to CM Recto; those utilizing Dasmarinas shall turn left to Prenza, turn right to Muella dela Industria; those utilizing San Fernando going to Plaza Ruiz shall turn right to Elcano, turn left to Urbiztondo, turn right to Barraca, turn left to Dasmarinas, turn right to Juan Luna, then turn left to Muelle dela Industria to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from P. Burgos going to Binondo area intending to utilize the northbound lane of Jones Bridge shall use McArthur Bridge to point of destination, the MPD-TEU said, adding that the closing and opening of roads will be based on actual traffic condition and subject to changes.

On Saturday, a grand parade will be held and will also affect the vehicular traffic, according to the Manila police.

The said parade will start around 1 p.m. and will pass through the Post Office, then right to Jones Bridge, straight to Quintin Paredes St., then right to Ongpin St., left to Ronquillo St., left to F. Torres St., then left to Soler St., right to Reina Regente St. and will end at the Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo.

The MPD-TEU has advised that all vehicles coming from P. Burgos going to Binondo area intending to utilize the northbound lane of Jones Bridge shall use McArthur Bridge to point of destination.

It also noted that the Stop and Go traffic scheme will be implemented during the parade and the closing and opening of the streets shall be based on actual traffic condition and still subject to changes.
