In a bid to increase police visibility in Marikina City, the local government of Marikina will provide brand new vehicles to all Police Community Precincts (PCPs) in the city, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said.
The mayor made the announcement during the courtesy visit of National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major General Debold Sinas at Marikina City Hall on February 12.
The new patrol cars, Teodoro said, will be deployed to all nine PCPs of Marikina Police to further increase police visibility in the city.
“Ang suporta namin sa police ay hindi lang po pisikal o material, more importantly we treat them as brothers and sisters.” Teodoro said in a statement Saturday.
Teodoro also took Sinas on a test drive of the brand-new MG model car around the City Hall which the city government plans to purchase.
During his visit, Sinas brought with him his entire NCRPO directorial staff. The Metro Manila top cop was accompanied by Eastern Police District (EPD) director Brig. Gen. Johnson Almazan and Marikina Police chief Col. Restituto Arcangel.
Aside from the brand-new police cars, the Marikina City government is now constructing an eight-storey police station on Fortune Avenue in Barangay Fortune, Marikina.
The P130-million building features offices, interrogations room, tactical operations room, evidence room, a firing range and barracks. “We hope that it will be finished soon,” the mayor said.
During his speech, Sinas shared that Marikina City has always been considered as a model when it comes to the relationship between the local government and the Philippine National Police.
“Ever since, itong Markina is always the model when it comes to the relations of the PNP and the local government,” the two-star police general was quoted as saying in the statement.
“Ang dami na naming program na ang palaging ginagamit na template is itong Marikina kasi noon pa man it is already established,” he continued.
