A man, believed to be a foreign national, was caught in a photo allegedly defecating on a larger flower pot at the Intramuros Wall in Manila on Sunday morning.
Dos Alvarado, a Facebook user, uploaded the photo and said that they were having an educational tour in the area when they saw the man at Baluarte de San Francisco de Dilao, in front of Mapua University, around 11:09 a.m.
“Checking from our view, may napansin po kaming naka-upo, then na-alarma na kami, then I snapped photos from my DSLR camera,” he told the Manila Bulletin.
The man said to be with three other foreign nationals, then cleaned himself with his bare hands, he added.
Alvarado said that there was a nearby security guard in the area that time. It was backed by a photo he also took.
“Nandoon na po ‘yung guard actually, kaso hindi niya po ata napansin [agad] kasi madami kami,” he said.
Sought for comment, Intramuros Administrator Lawyer Guiller Asido told the Manila Bulletin that, there was “no verified report” regarding the photo.
“There was no report from the guard. We also checked the site, no waste seen,” he said.
Asido expressed concern that the post might just be being used to express anti-Chinese sentiment.
“We are concerned that instead of calling [the] attention of guard who is posted there if true, the one who posted it is using this for anti-chinese sentiment,” he said.
The lawyer added that they “are trying to get in touch with the one who posted [the photo], but he is not responding.”
