PALIMBANG, SULTAN KUDARAT- Two people were killed while some 500 families were displaced after flash floods inundated a village here on Wednesday.

Michael Mangulamas, operation officer of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said the fatalities include a 60 year-old man and a 12 year-old girl, who are still missing after their houses were swept away by floods that submerged Barangay Poblacion here.

He said heavy downpour had caused the overflow of the Palimbang River which unleashed floodwaters into a residential area of Barangay Poblacion.

He said some 20 houses were damaged while the bridge connecting Palimbang river was also destroyed by the floods.

Mayor Teng Kapina distributed relief goods to the displaced families who are presently housed at the barangay gymnasium.
