The Senate has expressed its sympathies to the family of Cebu City 1st District Representative Raul del Mar, who passed away on Monday night.
“We’d like to give our deepest, deepest condolences on behalf of the Senate on the passing of Congressman Raul del Mar,” Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said as the chamber began its plenary session on Tuesday, November 17.
“Congressman Raul del Mar was a very dear friend to myself and to my father, as well as their daughter, was a good family friend as well. Our condolences to the family,” he added.
The Senate then approved the proposal of Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon to pass an unnumbered resolution, subject to style, that would express the chamber’s condolences and honor Del Mar.
Senate President Vicente Sotto said he also sympathizes with Del Mar’s family.
All senators were made co-authors to the approved resolution.
The Cebu Citizen’s Press Council (CCPC) said in a statement that Del Mar died in a hospital in Manila, where he had been attending the virtual sessions of the House of Representatives. He was 79.
