Vice President and oppostion leader Leni Robredo on Tuesday visited the island of Polillo in Quezon to reach out to residents badly hit by Typhoon Ulysses.
This is the fourth province which Robredo personally visited in a week to bring relief assistance and assess the situation of those affected by the typhoon.
The vice president inspected typhoon-hit areas, including Rizal, Cagayan, and Isabela, where she also distributed relief items.
“We’re in Polillo Island now. Arrived a few minutes ago to check on our kababayans (countrymen) here,” she said in a Twitter post.
Robredo noted the apparent devastation caused by the typhoon on the island.
Polillo residents are left with damaged homes and crops after last week’s onslaught of Ulysses.
The typhoon reportedly destroyed about 500 houses and uprooted many big trees, including mango and coconut, which are among the residents’ main source of livelihood.
