A Catholic prelate hopes Joe Biden’s election as president would restore morality in the United States.
“Hope he can restore morality in USA,” Ozamiz Archbishop Martin Jumoad said.
“Hope abortion will be outlawed. A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope,” he added.
Biden is the second Catholic president of the US, following John Kennedy in 1961.
Archdiocese of Manila apostolic administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo said if Biden is a true Catholic, he should follow God’s teaching.
“He should follow God’s teaching about the sanctity of each human life from conception to natural death,” he said.
“Hope everybody will accept him as president,” added Pabillo.
Jumoad asked everyone to pray for Biden.
“Let’s pray for the new US president-elect. May the Holy Spirit guide his presidency,” he said.
Buhay partylist Rep. Lito Atienza believes great challenges will confront the leadership of Biden as America has been suffering from “loss of values.”
“America has been suffering from loss of values reflected in their anti-life way of life and laws which promote anti-life philosophies,” he said.
“He may be able to arrest deteriorating values among Americans…. especially properly strengthening pro-life values,” added Atienza.
