Kit Thompson won’t be joining the BL (Boy’s Love) bandwagon anytime soon.
The actor made the statement during a virtual presscon for iWant’s upcoming teleserye “La Vida Lena.” In the series, Kit plays the first love of Erich Gonzales’ character and the source of her first heartbreak.
According to Thompson, he does not want to be typecast in any role.
“I just enjoy doing different things na hindi ko pa na try dati. I feel I get a rush of emotion everytime because its new. I don’t want to do the same things over and over again because mabore bore ako or I wouldn’t be that interested in it anymore . So I always try do something new,” he said.
Because of the current trend on BL (Boys Love) series and films, Thompson addressed the question on whether he would be open to playing a role in a project with this genre.
According to the actor, following trends is not his main motivation for accepting new roles.
“The thing is, I feel like ang daming lumabas na BL recently. I feel like it’s so crammed. In 2020, like ilang mga BL films na lumabas. I also don’t want to join the bandwagon just so I can say I did,” he said.
“I want to get something really good, and then think about whether or not I should do this role or whatever the offer is,” he added.
Touted as Erich’s first major comeback in two years after the successful run of The Blood Sisters on ABS-CBN, the series will focus on the journey of the character of Magda, a woman who is bullied because of the huge scar on her face. After going through a series of hardships, she receives plastic surgery and transforms into Lena. She vows to exact revenge on the people who have wronged her.
The series is helmed by directors Jerry Lopez Sineneng (Walang Hanggan, Love Thy Woman) and Jojo Saguin (Ina Kapatid Anak, On the Wings of Love).
The cast includes veteran actors Pen Medina, Ruby Ruiz, Janice de Belen, Raymond Bagatsing, Soliman Cruz, Agot Isidro, Christian Vasquez and Malou Crisologo. Carlo Aquino, JC de Vera, Sofia Andres, Hasna Cabral and newcomers Renshi de Guzman and Danica Ongtenco also join the cast.
During the online presscon, Direk Jerry said that amid the pandemic protocols that they needed to prepare for, the biggest challenge for him and Direk Jojo was how to make sure that they did justice to all of the seasoned actors who were part of the drama.
He said that because of the amount of talent they had on board, they had to make sure to achieve the proper blend so that their outstanding performances can get be highlighted in the best way possible.
Direk Jerry also said he was grateful for all the actors for helping them achieve the perfect balance so that their collective efforts delivered the best output.
