Auro Chocolate, an internationally-acclaimed Filipino bean-to-bar chocolate company bagged five golds in the International Chocolate Awards – Asia Pacific Division.
Auro shared the sweet news on Instagram after they won the gold award in the following categories: Best in Competition, Overall Winner for Plain/Origin Milk Chocolate Bar, Chocolate Maker, Growing Country, and Direct Traded.
“Wow. What a true privilege it is to do what we love. It is always our goal to keep learning and improving so that we may keep pushing quality Filipino-made chocolate forward to represent on the world stage,” Auro wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you to everyone for your continued support! Let’s do this together.”
The Asia-Pacific Bean-to-Bar and Chocolatier Competition was held in Pingtung, Taiwan on October 12.
The competition brings together bean-to-bar chocolate bars and chocolatier products from diverse cultures around the region “to celebrate innovation and excellence in fine chocolate and chocolate making” in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands.
Auro also earned seven prestigious awards at the annual Great Taste 2020 event in the United Kingdom in September.
Founded in 2015, the name Auro is derived from AU, the chemical symbol for gold in the periodic table combined with ORO, which also means “gold” in Spanish. The company’s name represents “a new way of looking at an old tradition.”
“Cacao has been in the Philippines for over 300 years, and our role is to uncover this treasure and transform them into products that highlight its actual value,” Auro said on its website.
Since its launch in 2017, the artisanal chocolatier has already won a total of 24 international awards, including the Top 20 Best Cacao Beans in the World Award. Auro produces fine cacao and chocolate made from directly-sourced beans from Mindanao.
