Multimedia Arts students of Meridian International (MINT) College have applied their talents to designing and painting the “Everything Counts” mural, an urban artwork “designed with a purpose.” The mural is part of an awareness campaign on environmental issues.
The College is located in Ortigas East, a rising estate along the C-5 corridor whose vision is to become a “green community” and “eco-district.” As an addition to the growing community, Ortigas East tapped into the creativity and skillset of MINT students to create this piece.
The group of senior high school and college students were guided and supervised by Multimedia Arts Program Head Lizza Guiterrez and instructor Abe Medenilla. People from the community who were walking on the sidewalk were encouraged to join and paint parts of the mural as well.
The four elements of matter–water, earth, air, and fire–are all symbolized with a painted tree. Passerbys may scan the QR codes of the drawn trees to learn more about partner non-profit organizations and advocate groups dedicated to that cause, so they can see how they can help.
According to MINT College’s official website, “Ortigas East and MINT College hope that people will do their part in caring for the planet and volunteer to join various programs offered by the featured partners.”
