The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is adopting the electronic appointment and virtual meeting between taxpayers and revenue officers as one of its anti-coronavirus protocols.
“This will eliminate physical contact and reduce the incidence of pandemic infection,” said Revenue Deputy Commissioner for Operations Arnel Guballa.
Guballa, together with Revenue Deputy Commissioner for Information Systems Lanee Cui-David, signed the Joint Operations Memorandum 69-2020 implementing the guideline on the online discussions of tax related issues.
The online system will go on trial on December 15.
An administrator and a moderator will be assigned to concerned audit offices to manage the audio-video conference.
The administrator will handle the appointment request and the virtual meeting link while the moderator is tasked with managing the electronic application system and the identification of the taxpayer or his representative.
