Police killed two suspected motorcycle thieves in a brief shootout in San Rafael town of Bulacan on Tuesday.
Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum, director of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG), said the clash erupted when his men chanced upon the two suspects on board a stolen motorcycle in San Rafael.
“Our personnel received an alarm that a motorcycle was stolen. They immediately conducted a dragnet in all the possible exit routes and were able to encounter the suspects,” said Tagum.
The HPG policemen flagged down the motorcycle but one of the suspects allegedly fired at the policemen, triggering a shootout.
The suspects sped off the motorcycle but was cornered in Barangay San Roque where they were killed.
Seized from the two suspects were two handguns. Police are yet to identify the slain suspects.
