Song Joong-ki, Lee Hee-joon and Colombian actress Juana del Rio will star in the movie “Bogota” and the shooting in Bogota, Colombia started last January and was supposed to last until May.
However, with the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Colombia, the cast and crew have decided to stop filming and return to South Korea.
As of writing, there are 470 positive cases of COVID-19 in Colombia including four deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. The Colombian government also restricted travel in and out of the country.
Song Joong-ki arrived at Incheon International Airport on March 24 and will be under home quarantine for two weeks. According to Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Korean nationals “who are asymptomatic at the time of entry will enter self-quarantine in their home for 14 days and get tested if symptoms begin to occur.”
Only 40 percent of “Bogota” has been filmed and with the current global crisis on COVID-19, there is no definite date when the filming will resume.
Song Joong-ki’s popularity skyrocketed when he starred in the 2016 drama “Descendants of the Sun” together with his ex-wife Song Hye-kyo. He starred in “Arthdal Chronicles” last year. “Bogota” is a story about a group of people who decided to immigrate to Colombia in the 1990s.
