Robert Pattinson will be the next Dark Knight and Caped Crusader of Gotham.
Although the deal has yet to be finalized, sources told Variety that Pattinson was the frontrunner in the race on who will play in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”, which will hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
Deadline also reported that the “Twilight” star has not confirmed yet.
Warner Bros. is yet to comment about the Pattinson’s role.
Reeves’, who directed “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “War of the Planet of the Apes”, assumed the directing roles in the new “Batman” film from Ben Affleck last January 2017.
Affleck handed over his cape after playing the Dark Knight in DC Extended Universe films “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, “Suicide Squad”, and “Justice League.”
Should Pattinson, 33, accept the role, he is set to be the youngest actor to play the Caped Crusader on big screen aside from Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Affleck.
Dylan Clark, Reeves’ collaborator in the “Planet of the Apes” sequels, will co-produce “The Batman,” which will revolve around the life of a younger Bruce Wayne.
Insiders also told Variety that filming would start in late 2019 or early 2020.
