Eight Filipino designers who have showcased creations in pageants and modeling shows here and abroad will rock the runway at the Thailand Fashion Week at Varavela Gardens in Bangkok on Nov. 29.
The Filipino designers are Roberth Gallardo III, Mary Jane Sauler, Anna Fuentes Ligaya, Shiela Yco, Jolaida Niccolai, Jhay Layson, Juvy P. Fantilanan, and Aji Kamahalan.
During a meet-and-greet event at Araneta City Monday night, the designers said they are honored to participate in one of Thailand’s biggest fashion events this year.
At the event, each Filipino designer will feature a bridal gown that has never been featured in any shows.
“Each one of us will present a bridal gown but we have no idea who will wear our creations,” said Layson, who has been into styling and fashion designing for three years now.
Yco said that through Thailand Fashion Week, the group hopes to encourage fashionistas around the world to patronize Philippine designs.
“Filipino designs are unique in their own way. We also hope to attract many customers through this international fashion event,” she said.
Apart from the usual materials such as tulle, lace, pearls, and bead works, the team will infuse local and indigenous materials, the group said.
Joining the Filipino designers are nine young Filipino models who were chosen during auditions for the Thailand Fashion Week.
They are Jessica Claire Tapawan, Elweisz Gomez, Kim Micah Daniel, Sofhia Khatie Lorenzo, Jihayni Locambra Hernandez, Yean Reveche, Zayra Domingo, Hannah Nicole David, and Jackie Antonio.
The models will wear creations by international designers in the same show.
