This news circulated after the real winner Suheyn Cipriani of Peru was allegedly dethroned from the international title because she was reportedly pregnant. But Arnold Vegafria, national director for Miss World Philippines, cautioned pageant fans on jumping to conclusions and asked them to wait for the official statement from international organizers.

“In light of mounting viral rumors alluding to the dethronement of reigning Miss Eco International 2019 Suheyn Cipriani of Peru and the subsequent appointment of Miss Eco International 2019 1st Runner-Up Maureen Montagne as the new Miss Eco International 2019, the Miss World Philippines organization cautions all concerned media from disseminating such unconfirmed reports, and advises everyone to wait for the official announcement from the Miss Eco International organization, to settle the issue once and for all,” Vegafria said.

Vegafria added: “The Miss World Philippines organization affirms its support to Miss Eco International founder Dr. Amaal Rezk, and will respect and abide by her decision regarding this pressing issue.”

Montagne, a Filipino-American pageant veteran, finished first runner-up in the Miss Eco International 2019 competition held in Egypt last March 30, 2019.

In October 2019, Montagne finished her reign as Miss Eco Philippines and crowned Kelley Day as her successor.

The Miss Eco International 2020 pageant will be held in Egypt from Aug. 25 to Sept. 12.

These days, Montagne is one of the frontrunners for Bb. Pilipinas 2020 pageant. But with Bb. Pilipinas 2020 postponed indefinitely, pageant fans said that Montagne may accept the title until September of this year should Miss Eco International organizers decide to make her the new winner.

If crowned also, this would also be a back-to-back victory for the Philippines in the Miss Eco International competition.
