Former Miss World Megan Young is in no rush to get married.

That’s why she almost fell off her chair when told about rumors that boyfriend Mikael Daez is now her husband after they supposedly wed during their Iceland vacation recently.

“Nagulat nga ako, narinig ko rin. I think it was my mom who asked me about it,” she said. “No, we’re not married.”

Marriage is not in their priority right now.

“You’ll just find out one day that we’re married siguro. Ganoon na lang. Alam n’yo naman kami, quiet lang kami,” she said, adding that her mom is the one pushing her to take that plunge.

“Gusto niyang mag-ka-apo na pero sabi ko ‘Wag na muna,’” Megan said.

What does she think is the ideal marrying age? She and Mikael have been a couple for eight years now.

“No ideal age. If it happens, when I’m married, then it happens,” she said. “But definitely not this year. Maybe in the next couple of years.”

Megan added: “Me and Mikael, we don’t have a timeline for things like that. We talk about it a lot but as of now it is not in our plans. But you’ll never know, we’re very spontaneous. You’ll never know if, like, ‘Are we going to get married? When?’ And then we just decide.”

With seeming finality, Megan stated, “Mikael is my forever. I mean it for the long run.”

Stage fright

Being in showbiz for so long, it is quite surprising Megan still gets stage fright whenever she’s on stage.

“Meron pa rin as in pinapawisan ‘yung kamay ko, ‘yung anit ko pinapawisan.

“Definitely the couple of minutes na nasa stage ako ay nanginginig pa ako and I have to like…I shout it off lang. Eventually, I get into the groove and okay na ako,” she said.

Megan will talk about Personality Development and Public Speaking in Empire Exclusives on May 25.

“Definitely it’s not a full class kasi a full class on personality development parang isang semester na ‘yun eh. For those that are looking for a one-day class, eto yun. If they need a crash course or master class na nandoon na lahat, go.

“I think personality development is finding your inner self, knowing your strengths, weaknesses. How you can use that to your advantage kahit na you’re weak. It’s how you apply that to your everyday job. It is also about stress management.”

Empire Studios is on second floor of Uptown Mall, BGC.
