When asked recently about his supposed “love story” with former co-star Claudine Barretto, Manila Mayor Mayor Moreno gave clear answer.
Appearing on the late-night comedy talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice,” Moreno said they never had a romantic relationship.
On the segment “Idulog Mo Kay Yorme,” Vice Ganda asked: “Ano pong gagawin niyo kung sa harapan niyo nagbangayan sina Gretchen, Marjorie at Claudine? Paano niyo po sila pagbabatiin?”
Before Moreno could answer, however, the comedian gave a follow up question: “Ayusin niyo daw po yung sagot niyo kasi muntik niyo na raw po maging ano ito, in-laws, si Gretchen at si Marjorie.”
“At naging mag-jowa ba talaga kayo ni Claudine noon?” he added.
Barretto and Moreno worked together in the 1994 film “Muntik Na Kitang Minahal.”
“With due respect to Ms. Claudine Barretto, hindi naman (naging kami),” Moreno answered. “We were partners in movies and we belonged to one film outfit, which is Seiko Films.”
Moreno denied even having tried to court the actress, saying that he felt “insecure.”
“…medyo maayos naman kasi ang buhay nila,” he said.
But Moreno admitted that he got to hold hands with Barretto in one of the scenes, but they did not kiss because the film didn’t require them to do so.
Vice Ganda then asked if they kissed after the movie, but Moreno answered: “Alaws din eh (Wala din eh).”
Mayor Isko is happily married to Diana Lynn Ditan for nearly two decades now. Barretto on the other hand, married actor Raymart Santiago in March 2006 but they divorced in 2013.
