After weeks of speculation on what Marcelito Pomoy would sing on “America’s Got Talent: The Champion” now that he is in the semi-finals, a short video of his most recent performance of this song shows the Filipino bet is in it to win it and, indeed, just starting to start: “Time To Say Goodbye.”
The video, published Feb. 1 on the show’s YouTube Channel and said to be a preview of his performance on Monday night’s (Tuesday morning, Philippine time) episode, sees Marcelito singing the first few lines of the Andrea Bocelli original to wild applause.
The cameras also capture the expressions of the “AGT” judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Alesha Dixon, and Howie Mandel, all of whom are seemingly delighted, even in awe of the Pinoy singer.
Marcelito, who sings in dual voice, made waves worldwide with his first song on the show, “The Prayer,” also originally by Andrea in duet with Celine Dion.
“Time To Say Goodbye” is a duet between Andrea and Sarah Brightman. The original is an Italian solo by Andrea titled “Con Te Partiro.” It is the opera singer’s signature song.
“Marcelito” has sung “Time To Say Goodbye” several times in the Philippines. In an interview with Bulletin Entertainment last week, he revealed submitting 10 songs for consideration to “America’s Got Talent” that eventually chose his semi-final song.
